We very purposefully make sure that at least half the shows suggested by our personalized recommendations are for relatively new artists. Our recommendation engine is learning from the fans’ music preferences to not only alert them when artists go on tour but also recommend artists that fans aren’t following (yet).
Bandsintown in a few words, what is it? When was it born?
Bandsintown is the world’s largest live music discovery platform. Every day we help approximately 1 million music fans discover concerts, buy tickets, and create their next live music experience.
Bandsintown launched in 2007 as a Facebook app and has grown over the years to become the multiplatform live music discovery hub that it is today. Since 2011 the brand has been owned by the Bandsintown Group.
In which countries does Bandsintown have the biggest communities of artists and users in general?
We’ve got a truly global community made up of 70 million registered fans and 560,000 registered artists from all over the world. Our biggest communities are in the US, Canada, France, the UK, and Germany. But all of Europe, Japan, Australia, and South America also have large Bandsintown communities that are growing rapidly.

In particular, how can Bandsintown help artists get more audiences to come to their shows?
In addition to our free artist tools, Bandsintown gives artists access to our massive online community. We very purposefully make sure that at least half the shows suggested by our personalized recommendations are for relatively new artists. Our recommendation engine is learning from the fans’ music preferences to not only alert them when artists go on tour but also recommend artists that fans aren’t following (yet).
Fans tell us they love this feature and artists share that many new fans say that they discovered them on Bandsintown.
We recently launched a partnership with Apple-owned Shazam that shows an artist’s tour dates when you Shazam a song. With their 225 million monthly active users and 1 billion monthly song searches, that’s a huge win for artists.

We’re always working on new ways to help artists.
